What We Collect
When you take an assessment on Evaluator, we collect:
- Your name and email -- to identify your submission to the assessment creator.
- Your responses -- the answers you provide to each question, including code you write.
- Time data -- how long you spend on each question, total assessment duration, and time-to-first-keystroke per question.
- Scores and AI feedback -- generated by our AI evaluation system, including AI-generation likelihood scoring.
- Behavioral data -- we passively collect the following during assessments to ensure integrity and improve our platform:
- Keystroke metrics (typing speed, active/idle time, deletion patterns, paste events)
- Tab switching and window focus/blur events
- Copy, paste, and cut attempts
- Question navigation patterns (order viewed, times revisited, answer revision count)
- Reading time estimates (time before first interaction per question)
- Device and browser information -- screen size, viewport dimensions, device type, browser, platform, language, timezone, connection type, and hardware capabilities. This helps us optimize the assessment experience and detect unusual patterns.
For account holders (companies, recruiters, teachers), we additionally collect:
- Account information (email, name, company).
- Job descriptions you submit for assessment generation.
- Hiring decisions and performance reviews you choose to log.
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe -- we never see your full card number).
How We Use Your Data
- Deliver the service -- generate assessments, evaluate responses, and show results.
- Integrity monitoring -- we analyze behavioral patterns (keystroke timing, navigation behavior, tab switching, typing speed) to detect potential cheating, AI-assisted answers, and other forms of assessment fraud. These signals are compiled into an integrity report visible to the assessment creator.
- Improve question quality -- we analyze aggregate performance data to identify which questions best differentiate skill levels.
- Correlate outcomes -- when recruiters log hiring decisions, we use this to validate which assessment patterns predict successful hires. This data is always aggregated and anonymized.
- Platform optimization -- we use device context and engagement data to improve the assessment experience across different devices, screen sizes, and network conditions.
- Feature development -- we analyze aggregate usage patterns and behavioral data to build better features, calibrate scoring, and improve the accuracy of our integrity monitoring.
- Track class progress -- for educators, we track student improvement over time.
AI-Powered Analysis
Evaluator uses AI (powered by Anthropic) to generate assessments and evaluate submissions. As part of evaluation, we analyze responses for signals of AI-generated content. This analysis produces a per-question AI likelihood score that is shared with the assessment creator as part of the integrity report. Your responses are sent to Anthropic for processing but are not used to train AI models.
Data Storage & Security
All data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. Personally identifiable information (PII) is stored separately and can be deleted on request. We use Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access their own data. Behavioral and device data is stored alongside submission records and is subject to the same security controls.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Assessment response data, including behavioral metrics, is retained until a deletion request is processed. Aggregated and anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and platform improvement. You can request deletion at any time.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access -- request a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Portability -- export your data in JSON, CSV, or PDF format.
- Deletion -- request that we delete all your personal data.
- Restriction -- ask us to stop processing your data.
- Objection -- object to processing for analytics or profiling purposes.
Data Deletion
You can request deletion of all your data at any time. We will process your request within 30 days. This includes removing your responses, scores, behavioral data, and any personally identifiable information.

Consent
By starting an assessment, you consent to the collection of behavioral and device data as described above. This data collection is necessary for the integrity monitoring features that protect both candidates and employers. If you do not consent, you should not proceed with the assessment. Account holders consent to data collection and processing when creating an account.
